Batu Maung fishing nexus

A SMALL fishing village some 30 years ago, Batu Maung has bloomed into an important area for fisheries and aquaculture research. While the local village fishermen still go out to fish daily in the surrounding waters, it is the fishermen departing from the Fisheries Research Institute (FRI) jetty that go out deeper into the sea for larger-scale fishing purposes.
