GEORGE TOWN, the capital of Penang Island in Malaysia, was once a centre of world trade and a magnet for people from all over the world. British, Indian, Chinese, Armenian and many more peoples joined the Malays to create a fascinating mixture of cultures, buildings and cuisines.
