FORMED in 1986 and registered in 1987, The Penang Heritage Trust is a registered tax-exempt, non-governmental organisation (NGO) whose objective is to promote the conservation of Penang's heritage, and to foster cultural education about the history and heritage of Penang. Its conservation efforts have won it representational seats on several notable committees, for example, on state heritage, Suffolk House, rent control repeal and various inner city area improvement projects. They were also represented on the Local Government Consultative Forum and State Planning Department UNESCO World Heritage Listing Committee.
