Built in 1897, the Church Street Pier was used as a car ferry terminal and by small boats. As a terminal for cars, it was later replaced by the Tun Raja Uda Terminal. Among the other jetties that are now closed or demolished are the Railway Jetty at China Street Gat and the Victoria Pier at Downing Street Gat.
